Product Description

What's PG and HOPG?
PG--Pyrolytic graphite is a new type of carbon material. It is a pyrolytic carbon with a high crystal orientation that is deposited by chemical vapor deposition on a graphite matrix at 1800ºC~2000ºC with high-purity hydrocarbon gas under a certain furnace pressure. It has high density (2.20g/cm), high purity (impurity content (0.0002%)) and anisotropy of thermal, electrical, magnetic and mechanical properties. It can still maintain a vacuum degree of 10mmHg at around 1800ºC.

Highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) is a "crystalline" graphite with good crystal structure, strong preferred orientation and high degree of graphitization. Its preparation principle is to select high-quality fine cone structure pyrolytic graphite (PG) as the basic raw material, and then use high temperature and high pressure equipment to process it through multiple special processes. Under this high temperature and high pressure state, the grain structure of PG is quickly transformed, the arrangement of carbon atom layers becomes more orderly, and the original "disordered layer stacking" structure is transformed into an arrangement form with strong preferred orientation of grains, forming a "quasi-crystal" close to the ideal graphite structure. Highly oriented pyrolytic graphite has good carbon atom structure.

Products Features
Highly Oriented Pyrolytic Graphite (HOPG) for Scientific Research and Instrument Manufacturing
1. The surface is dense, without pores, and easy to machine.

2. High purity, total impurity content <20ppm, good airtightness.

3. High temperature resistance, the strength increases with the increase of the use temperature, and the strength reaches the highest value at 2750ºC and sublimates at 3600ºC.

4. Low elastic modulus, high thermal conductivity, small thermal expansion coefficient, and the product has excellent thermal shock resistance.

5. Good chemical stability, acid, alkali, salt and organic reagents, no effect on molten metal, slag and other corrosive media, no obvious oxidation below 400ºC in the atmosphere, and the oxidation rate increases significantly at 800ºC.

6. No gas is released at high temperature, and a vacuum of 10-7mmhg can be maintained at around 1800ºC.

Highly Oriented Pyrolytic Graphite (HOPG) for Scientific Research and Instrument Manufacturing

Pyrolytic graphite has extremely strong anti-magnetic properties, which allows it to be suspended in a magnetic field due to repulsion. Specifically, pyrolytic graphite will generate an induced magnetic moment in the magnetic field that is opposite to the external magnetic field, thereby generating a weak repulsive force that causes it to suspend. In addition, by constructing a specific magnetic field configuration, stable suspension of pyrolytic graphite can be achieved.

HOPG Application

Highly oriented pyrolytic graphite has been widely used as:
Standard sample and key component in scientific research,
Instrument manufacturing,
Industrial production X-ray monochromators, neutron filters and single-package devices,
Research on basic properties of graphite,
Research on large-size graphite intercalation compounds.
